OUR COMMITMENT TO RECYCLING

For us, recycling is a priority, in particular when it comes to the multiple construction projects across the Airport precincts.

For 6 Brindabella Circuit we are targeting the Greenstar Materials credit for the Construction and Demolition Waste in which at least 90% of the waste generated during construction and demolition has been diverted from landfill as well as undertaking the Life Cycle Impacts analysis to look at how we can reduce the impact of the construction and ongoing operations of the building on the environment.

Similar to 6 Brindabella Circuit, 25 Catalina Drive in Majura Park is targeting the Greenstar Materials credit for the Construction and Demolition Waste in which at least 90% of the waste generated during construction and demolition has been diverted from landfill.

At this stage of the project, it is not generating a lot of waste, however we are recycling the concrete curb and footpath that has been removed. In October, the project has recycled 43.1t of concrete.

In addition, we have a well-established worm farm to help with the efficient composting of organic materials from our offices, the terminal and a few of our Brindabella Business Park neighbours.

We are proud to report that the organic waste in our worm farm is quickly being converted into worm castings and rich, nutrient-dense liquid fertiliser that is used in on-site landscaping. Our worm farm can handle up to 150 kilograms of food waste per week as earthworms can consume more than half their body weight each day. In just two weeks, worms reduce the volume and weight of foodstuff by more than 90 per cent!
